When vtiger started, it was a mad headlong rush to get a product out of the doors, to put in as much features as needed and a little more and to have those mid-night meetings and releases, eating and sleeping in offices, not shaving for days together (well, I shave once a month or so nowadays!), not sleeping well, etc.
We had the luxury of testing out various permutations with utter disregard to anything, the youth was running wild, we could make dreams into reality then and there and that was all that mattered.
Cut to 5.0.3.
Now, we cannot afford to do any of these gymnastics/moon-lightings. We have to be precise and have a sense of proper, stable direction. This is tough man, very tough. We have to curb our techincal instincts ie feature-addition instincts and focus on quality, quality and quality (oh, add ui and usability to that mix!). We must adhere to the release naming convention, we must see to it that the minor releases are bug fix releases and that we do not introduce very many features into it(if Frank would have it, he would rather have me imprisoned in Berlin I guess!) , just give the users whatever they have seen in the previous release but ensure that the quality of the xperience is way beyond this time.
So much to do, so little time, so many barriers, a wild horse…
