An Add-on App that manages Vehicle Incidents - A Case Study.

Vtiger introduced the Add-ons Publisher module on the VTAP platform a few months ago.

The Add-ons Publisher is a tool that helps you package your apps or build extensions and publish them on Vtiger Marketplace. Other Vtiger CRM users can purchase these apps through the Marketplace and use them to extend the functionality of their CRM.

It is a win-win for all!

Using the Add-ons Publisher, you can publish the following:

  • Industry-specific vertical CRM solutions.
  • Automated processes and workflows.
  • Customized modules, fields, reports, dependencies, etc., packed together as a solution.
  • Creative email template designs for different occasions.

Case Study: Build an Add-on that will collect vehicle breakdown incident details

The following case study shows how modules and fields in the CRM can be customized and packaged (or bundled) together as an Add-on app to manage vehicle breakdowns. This Add-on can then be published on Vtiger Marketplace and bought and used by other CRM users.

Case

A driver’s car breaks down on the highway. The driver needs to use a helpline number to connect to customer support. The customer support agent will then gather the following details to create a complaint record and assign it to a nearby service provider:

  • Vehicle Name
  • Registration Number
  • Insurance Company
  • Incident Type
  • Location Details

Challenge

Develop an app with the necessary modules and fields for managing vehicle incidents, package them into an Add-on, and publish them using the Add-on Publisher.

Solution

  1. Setting up modules in the CRM

Set up the necessary modules and fields in the CRM as follows:

  • Contacts: Used to store customer information
  • Custom Fields: Vehicle Name, Registration Number, Insurance Company Name
  • Cases: Used to manage complaint details.
  • Custom Fields: Incident Type, Location
  • Services: Used to track service-related information.

  1. Publish the Add-on in the Marketplace

Once you set up the modules and custom fields, you are ready to bundle and publish them as an Add-on.

The Add-on Publisher is available under Menu > Platform. Open the Add-on Publisher, select your modules and fields, select the feature, and add a name. On clicking Submit, your Add-on will be available on Vtiger Marketplace.

Refer to our help article on the Add-on Publisher for details.

We believe these examples will improve your experience with VTAP. The Add-on Publisher helps you build and share custom apps via the Vtiger Marketplace. It ensures that developers and CRM users can mutually share information and knowledge to further the functionality of the CRM.

Stay tuned for more.

Happy Coding and a Happy New Year!
