2025: The Year of AI Agents

- From the CEO’s Desk

AI Agents can understand a user’s query and identify the sequence of actions that need to be performed to provide the right response.

An AI Agent is trained on a set of topics, with each topic having specific actions that have input and output. For example, suppose you say “Give me a summary on the Acme Deal”.

In that case, the AI engine will perform the following steps:

  1. Pick a Deal Management Agent
  2. Find the Deal Summary Topic.
  3. Then perform the first action to get the recordId for the ‘Acme Deal’.
  4. Then perform the second action to get the Deal summary for the given recordId.

You might have multiple AI agents in your business, with each one trained on different sets of topics, and actions. For example, an appointment scheduling agent would help with scheduling appointments by finding available slots, and collecting contact information when booking a slot. Another agent can assist with creating deals, while another agent can assist you with different kinds of reports and pivot tables.

AI Agents can also assist with administrative actions such as adding custom fields or creating automation flows. Even coding tasks such as building connectors to other applications can be done through AI Agents

Calculus AI now comes with pre-built AI agents for common actions such as generating record summaries, creating records, updating records, generating automated alerts, and more.

The Agent Builder in Calculus AI makes it easy to create custom AI Agents. All you need to do is describe the agent and the actions it should be able to perform. Calculus AI leverages its knowledge of modules, prompts, APIs, and existing topics and actions to suggest new topics and actions for building your custom agent.

My Favorite Feature

Expenses

One of my favorite features in Vtiger CRM is the Expenses module, which is invaluable for managing company expenses. Our employees can log their expenses, such as attending a course, travel allowances, or enjoying team lunch. Our billing team reviews the attached receipts and processes the reimbursements. This module gives us real-time insights into spending.

Three things that caught my attention:

  • Approval Workflows: Automates multi-level expense approvals, ensuring accountability and efficiency.
  • Real-Time Notifications: Keeps approvers updated on pending actions to avoid delays.
  • Reports and Dashboards: Provides detailed insights into expense patterns and trends, helping with budget management and decision-making.

What truly sets the Expenses module apart is its ability to streamline expense management with customizable workflows and proactive reminders. This makes it an essential tool for our billing team, saving time and enhancing accuracy.
