Gene, you are right about Salesforce Genie, except for one thing…

- From the CEO’s Desk

In his article about Salesforce Genie (Salesforce did introduce a groundbreaking feature except for one thing, source: Forbes), Gene Marks articulated what using Salesforce Genie entails and why it is not suitable for Small and Midsize businesses. Gene rues that SMBs are left to shrug and wait.

If you are wondering what Salesforce Genie is, it is yet another product Salesforce released to solve the problem of silos (created by them - with single-purpose tools like Sales cloud, Service cloud, and Marketing cloud).

In 2018, they released another one on similar lines, called Salesforce Customer 360.

The PR on Genie states -  “With Genie, every company can turn data into customer magic, delivering seamless, highly personalized experiences across sales, service, marketing, and commerce that continuously adapt to changing customer information and needs in real time.”

The PR is a good one to read in its entirety. “A sales rep can no longer rely on in-person communication to close a large deal — reps need real-time insights about every customer, based on real-time and historical data, to act on the most relevant information in the moment, every time. A service agent runs the risk of losing a valuable customer if they lack a complete, real-time view across every touchpoint — every agent needs a source of real-time customer truth. With real-time patient data, healthcare providers can deliver proactive guidance and care recommendations.“

In the Forbes article, Gene Marks rightly points out, “...Genie (like Salesforce) is a product for big companies. It's being targeted at banks, insurance companies, healthcare organizations, car makers and giant e-commerce platforms. Genie is great, but just imagine the endless amount of time it will take to not only create these amazing integrations but troubleshoot, upgrade, migrate and further develop and support the platform to deliver accurate results with a high level of reliability. And then imagine the endless amount of time it will require to create all the AI and workflows and automation that will use this information – and adapt to it as the information changes”

“But what about smaller companies? They have the same needs too. But they don’t have the same budgets. I'm thinking of one client of mine - a mere 100 employees - that struggles to get their arms around data in their financial, order entry, inventory and CRM systems, which are all separate and a mess. They would absolutely love Genie. ..But c’mon…they can't afford Salesforce or Genie or the full time person that would be needed to make all this magic happen. They’re not willing to gamble those hundreds of thousands of dollars so easily. So what do they do? They shrug and they struggle, and they wait for this technology to be available for the masses with less of an investment. I think someday that will happen.”

But, Gene, That day has long arrived.

LMS in a CRM - Aiding in organizational learning and development

Are your employees up to date with the latest technology? Do you feel some of your employees can improve their communication skills? And the big question - are your employee goals aligned with your organization’s?

If your answers fall into the scope of maybe or no, then you need to look into the upskilling and reskilling of your employees. Learning and development programs aid you in transforming the workplace. They help your employees grow professionally and align their performance with your goals. It helps you retain talent and ramp up resources as required.

Companies often hesitate because of the costs involved and are on the lookout for less costly alternatives. A Learning Management System or an LMS is a perfect solution in this situation.

An LMS helps you host your content on a learning platform and allows your employees to access the content anywhere, anytime. Just imagine, you don’t have to invest in infrastructure or hire expensive trainers. And, you do not have to schedule training programs for your employees simultaneously and risk losing valuable man-hours. Also, many LMSes are free - at least the basic versions, which will help you control your training budget.

If you are a CRM user, then you have an added advantage. Many CRMs today have a built-in LMS feature. It helps you to publish content and manage user progress from within the CRM. Not only that, you will be able to publish a variety of content - soft skills, compliance training, onboarding, product training, sales training…it is all in your hands. And if your senior employees are willing to create content, your training programs come at negligible costs. Isn’t that awesome?

Vtiger CRM has introduced the LMS feature, which comes with its module in the CRM. You will be able to create a content repository by adding courses, lessons, exercises, and quizzes. You can then use the content to create custom courses based on your need.

Have you tried our LMS yet? It is free to use till 31 December 2022. Try it out now.

My Favorite Feature

Global Search and Events

My first fav feature is Global search.

Because, it makes finding records easy (even when they belong to multiple modules), and Advance Search helps in searching the records of a specific module.

My other favorite is Events.

As a Scrum Master, facilitating events is one of my key activities. The Recurring events toggle helps in creating recurring events for daily stand-up meetings and other regular meetings like status updates, feature releases, etc.
